The Construction Management Summit 2012 has set a platform
for on-going strategic engagement on profiling and increasing the support of
the Construction Management profession. The outcomes, amongst others were the
establishment of a working committee named ‘Construction Management
Development', adopted by the SACPCMP to ensure the implementation of the Summit
resolutions.
In 2013, the SACPCMP and CIOB wishes to
continue the consultation with the various stakeholders in the CM discipline to
review progress and further reassess the needs of the discipline.
The challenge of CM neglect is now also found
to be in the general decline in leadership and stature of the building
industry. It is also apparent that the extent at which stakeholders steer their
energy and capacity to deal with internal adaptation and change.
This can be addressed, largely by opening up
to government and private sector intervention in positioning the CM profession.
