3rd CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT SUMMIT
The Construction Management Summit is an annual event which is a platform for on-going strategic engagement on profiling and increasing the support of the Construction Management profession. To date there has been two summits which were held in 2012 and 2013 jointly hosted by the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) and Charted Institute of Building (CIOB). The outcomes, amongst others were the establishment of a working committee named ‘Construction Management Development’, adopted by the SACPCMP to ensure the implementation of the Summit resolutions.
In 2014, the SACPCMP and CIOB continues to engage the various stakeholders in the CM discipline to review progress and further reassess the needs of the discipline. The primary focus of the Summit would be on Construction Management recruitment, education, promotion and recognition of the profession. It will take stock of what has so far been achieved through developmental agendas championed by various stakeholder groups. The Summit would also develop a series of other needed intervention strategies that should be taken forward to stem the tide of the marginalisation and decline of the profession.
